He swiped right, messaged you first and kept replying. Time for your first Chappy date. But what are you gunna wear and where the hell are you going to take him?

In case you didn’t know, Chappy is an app for gay men to connect, chat and date online in a safer, quality and more inclusive space.

Brought to you by Bumble, it’s basically the only gay dating app you need right now. No more anonymous torsos and unsolicited dick pics. Download it here and see for yourself.

If you want a night away from the obvious LGBTQ+ bars in Manchester, we have some suggestions for you and your Mr. Right.

The Richmond Tea Rooms

If you’re going for brunch or perhaps afternoon tea with your future husband, the Richmond Tea Rooms are a brilliant first date choice. With a relaxed atmosphere and slightly kitsch surroundings you’ll feel completely at ease.

LEAF

Leaf café is a great option for guys wanting to keep the first date chilled. There’s a range of teas and a load of vegan and gluten free options – even the fussiest of eaters will find something here. With the chilled out playlists, events such as ‘The Basement Sessions’ and the stripped back surroundings this is the ideal place to get to know your Chappy date.

PLY

PLY is at the heart of Manchester’s thriving Northern Quarter. With brilliant service, beer and pizza, it’s a solid option for a first date. With its ultramodern décor it certainly feels like the ‘place to be’. At the moment Rachel Bellis, a Manchester based mixed media artist is exhibiting her work #LifeWithNoLabels which is sure to be a good conversation starter.

Junk Yard Golf

If you want to go somewhere to take the pressure off first date chat, Manchester’s Junk Yard Golf is the perfect place to break the ice. Situated just a 10 minute walk from Canal Street in one of Manchester’s most exciting areas, the golf course has a ‘twisted fairground’ theme, pick ‘n’ mix, hotdogs and 5 bars to keep the bevs flowing. What’s not to love!?

HOME

Pic Chris Payne

Theatre/cinema hybrid HOME is the chicest venue in town offering art house film previews and new theatrical performances, always with rave reviews. If you know your Chappy date is a movie enthusiast or aspiring thespian, then this is definitely the one for you.

TriBeCa

Located in the Gay Village, TriBeCa has the right mix of the scene but still feels independent from the mainstream LGBTQ+ bars. Calling themselves, ‘makers of the party spirit since 1999’, your Chappy date could last well into the night with this electric atmosphere and a couple of their famous cocktails.

Find a guy to take to one of these amazing venues on Chappy. Available on App Store and Google Play Store.
