HomoElectric Winter Showdown

Get your glitter ready. HomoElectric returns to Hidden for their final party of 2017 with a 3-floor full venue takeover. New York disco legend Nicky Siano takes over the loft, whilst London lovelies Luke Solomon and Hifi Sean, both current residents at London’s hottest gay club Savage, take the middle floor, and local champs DJ Paulette, Jamie Bull, Will Tramp and Gina Breeze represent Manchester on the ground. 10pm-late, Saturday 4th November, Hidden. Genre-bending, explosive local 10-piece brass outfit Twisted Tubes perform a selection of new songs from their debut EP The Grass is Greener.  Incorporating a full latin percussion section, their sound defies that of conventional brass collectives: blending together dancehall, hip-hop, and straight-up funk. Expect appearances from special guests, plus support from Manchester’s very own Jenna and the G’s. 7.30pm start, Band on the Wall, Sunday 5th November. Tickets here.

Manchester clubbing stalwart Hit & Run are throwing a bash in honour of their youngest and newest resident Berry Blacc this month at 256 in Fallowfield. The birthday boy is part of Manchester’s emergent neo-soul scene and will be hosting on the night alongside Chris Amor, as well as stepping out with both Cul De Sac and Budget Boyz. Hit & Run also called in long-term friends and bass heavyweights Kahn & Neek to perform a special 2-hour vinyl set, all powered by Neuron Pro Audio’s Void rig. 10pm-late, Saturday 11th November, 256 Wilmslow Road. Glaswegian dub reggae sound system Mungos Hi-Fi always bring the party when they come to town. DJ Yoda with Joey B (Swing Ting)

Hip-hop DJ and production legend DJ Yoda will be hitting up Band on the Wall this month with a night of classic old school hip-hop. For those unfamiliar with his work, Yoda pioneered a new form of audiovisual entertainment, unifying hands-in-the-air clubbing with a night at the movies, chopping and splicing classic movies with the same exceptional style that he repurposes music samples. It is always a treat to watch him. Support on the night comes from city dancehall fave Joey B of Swing Ting fame. 11pm-late, Band on the Wall, Friday 24th November. Tickets here.

Riot Jazz returns

Manchester’s much-loved 10 piece brass band revive their club night after a six-month pause at a new home – Wilmslow Road’s 256. The local roof-raisers will be transforming the venue into a stage and state of the art sound system from Neuron Pro Audio, but reassure us the ‘super-cheap bar prices’ will remain. Support comes from brass-heavy afrobeat outfit Agbeko, who are tipped as one of the most exciting bands in the city right now. Hosted by Levelz emcee Truthos Mufasa and with DJ support from Rich Reason, based on many great nights past we’d say this looks set to be a good one. 10pm-late, Saturday 25th November, 256 Wilmslow Road. Tickets here.

Haçienda Classiçal Homecoming Show

Reviving the nostalgia for Manchester’s early rave days, Haçienda Classiçal returns home this autumn for a Manchester date at the O2.
