Why Man United are looking forward to some great ‘matches’ next season

Manchester United found it difficult to score goals last season. But a reported new sponsorship deal with dating app Tinder could change the club’s luck this season.

Over the years, players like Roy Keane, Nemanja Vidic and Wayne Rooney have all been known to wear their hearts on their sleeves. But starting this season, the whole squad could be set to join them as the club are apparently in talks to negotiate a seductive new sponsorship offer from Tinder.

Having already sold their ‘soul’ to Chevrolet in a £53m-a-year kit deal back in 2014, the club are now close to teaming up with the popular dating app after it was reported they had tabled a £12 million a year bid to become United’s first ever sleeve sponsor.

Should any potential deal go through, fans are more likely to see the Tinder logo on the left sleeve with the Premier League logo remaining on the right.

With transfer fees being broken left, right and centre so far this summer, it comes as no surprise that Premiership clubs are conjuring up new ways of generating cash.

Nine teams have already signed sleeve deals so far this summer – including Manchester City who have struck a £10m deal with tyre company Nexen.

The internet was quick to let United know just what they thought about the deal.

United won’t be Tinder’s first sponsorship deal. The notorious app has already hooked up with Italian heartthrobs Napoli. That deal included a special arrangement with Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik, who got his very own dating profile on the app.

It remains unclear which, if any, of Manchester United’s players will be offered their own bespoke profiles on Tinder – should the club accept the deal.
