The popularity of US TV show Man Vs Food has led to more and more restaurants are introducing their very own eating challenges. If you want to have your own shot at the competitive way of dining, here’s five challenges for you to try in Manchester.

GUTBUSTER: Brotherhood

Someone is yet to conquer the GUTBUSTER at Brotherhood of Pursuits & Pastimes in Manchester. This challenge costs £30 to order, but if you can finish six 8oz burger patties topped with bacon and cheese, a bowl of dirty fries, five chicken strips a pot of coleslaw and a two pint pitcher of a drink of your choice, inside 25 minutes, the meal is ON THE HOUSE and you get a spot on their wall of fame!

Man Vs El Capo: El Capo

El Capo 24 Burrito

Who doesn’t love a burrito? Well, now you can really prove your love for the Mexican-inspired foodstuff with this new monthly event from El Capo. A double footlong burrito is your nemesis and, like the American show, you’ll be given your opportunity to take it on in front of a cheering crowd. To apply to take part, simply retweet or share a message from El Capo on social media. If you’re successful, you’ll be invited to give it a go on the last Sunday of the month. Finalists eat for free.

El Capo, 12 Tariff Street, M1 2FF

Man V Food: Walkabout

There’s a trio of tests on offer at Walkabout as part of their Man V Food challenges, meaning there’s something to appeal to all. Take on 20 super hot wings in 20 minutes for Hot Wings Of Fire. Consume a mountain of meat by making your way through three of their signature burgers on a brioche skyscraper complete with onion rings, every topping on offer and a side order of fries in just 30 minutes for the Leaning Tower of Burgers. And Mexican food lovers can try the Nacho Tank Experience where you have to dig your way through deep layers of tortilla chips, jalapeños, melted cheese, salsa and sour cream in half an hour.

Walkabout, Printworks, Withy Grove, M4 2BS

Chocolate Challenge: Slattery

Slattery Chocolate Challenge

For serious chocoholics, Whitefield favourite Slattery offer up a choc-a-block challenge. Can you finish a large portion of their American-style fudge cake served warm with a portion of home-made chocolate ice cream, fresh cream and two chocolate pots filled with liquid chocolate sauce, washed down with a glass of hot chocolate? If you can, you’ll receive a Slattery chocolate medal and a 100g box of chocolates – if you can still face it, that is.

Slattery, 197 Bury New Road, Whitefield, M45 6GE
