The Charlatans

The Charlatans will be releasing their hotly anticipated 13th album, Different Days, on Friday, 26th May. Unlucky for some, you might say. But even with three number one albums under their belt, the local favourites aren’t taking any chances. They’re organising a takeover of Oldham Street to help it on its way.

A whole day of events will see the Northern Quarter’s most famous street go Charlatan- mad with pop-ups, album signings, limited editions and exclusive giveaways on offer across venues including Koffee Pot, Magma, Oxfam Emporium & Originals, Leo’s Fish Bar, CASS Art and The Castle Hotel.

The band will be presenting live music throughout the day, a Charlatans disco and hosting a record signing at their favourite music haunt, Piccadilly Records, with the first 150 takers receiving wristbands for a special event at a later date.

Frontman Tim Burgess’ cult pop-up diner, Tim Peaks, will also be putting in an appearance serving its damn fine cherry pie, Tim Peaks bespoke blend of coffee and Different Days Tea created especially for the occasion by Yorkshire Tea.

Other highlights of the day include a bar featuring exclusive beers from Lancaster Brewery – Setting Sun and Hey Sunrise named after tracks on the new album.

Keep your eyes peeled as there are some things money just can’t buy. Anyone who finds Tim Peaks FM window stickers, which will randomly appear during the day, will get access to a special sold-out performance taking place later that day at The Lowry.

And a sought after signed CD of demos and out-takes from the new album will show up somewhere on Oldham Street during the day.

Although The Charlatans formed in the West Midlands in the 80s, it wasn’t until Salford-born vocalist Tim Burgess came on board that the band really found fame. They’ve been closely linked with the city and the Madchester scene ever since.

The Northern Quarter is going to see one fantastic day with an extremely well planned itinerary from the off.
