Popular Northern Quarter drinking establishment The Bay Horse is to reopen in the summer.

The new owners are Ross Mackenzie, Jobe Ferguson and Lyndon Higginson, the men behind some of Manchester’s most successful bar concepts – The Liars Club, Cane and Grain and Crazy Pedro’s.

The beautiful Grade 2 listed Georgian building on Thomas Street, which closed earlier this year, will be given a makeover and renamed The Bay Horse Tavern.

“The Bay Horse has always been one of the city’s most-loved drinking dens and as a sign of respect for its Manchester heritage we thought we’d use its original and historic name as part of the new one,” said Ross.

“This is what this venture is all about, mixing the old with the new to create a unique offering that is unlike any of the other pubs in the area. We want The Bay Horse Tavern to still be known as a traditional-style pub, but one where you will get just as great a meal, as you will get a great pint.”

With a combined turnover of more than £7 million, the trio behind the venture are working on an expansion plan which will see them roll out their range of unique bar concepts to cities such as Leeds and Liverpool with the aim of hitting £15 million turnover next year.
