A gourmet burger served at the double AA rosette River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel has made it to the finals of the National Burger Awards 2017.
Sous chef Ivo Pinto said will be competing for a £1,000 prize against 15 other finalists in three separate challenges.
In the first round, contestants will make their own gourmet burger for the judges to try.
The second round will see contestants try a technical challenge where they make a burger out of selected ingredients.
In the third and final round, contestants will make a burger from ingredients in a mystery box.
Ivo’s Lowry Five Star Burger combines Cheshire beef brisket with caramelised onions, treacle cured streaky bacon and Godminster vintage cheddar, served with homemade mayonnaise and tomato ketchup, romaine lettuce, heirloom tomatoes and pickled baby cucumber.
“Our gourmet burger uses all north west local ingredients giving the best flavours,” says Ivo.
“Being the only hotel in the competition really shows the dedication The Lowry Hotel puts into ensuring their restaurant matches the five-star experience of the hotel.”
The final takes place at the Islington Metal Works in London on the 22nd February. The Lowry Five Star Burger is available to try at the Lowry Hotel River Bar.
