With half-term round the corner, it’s always a worry what to do with your kids, especially in a safe and secure environment.

So look no further than intu Trafford Centre, where they will be running free daily cookery events this half-term. After asking local families how they most wanted to fill their free time, cookery was chosen as the activity they most wanted to take part in during the school holidays.

Foodie arts and crafts activities including crepe stations, banoffee pie making, mocktail classes and gyozo making sessions will take place every day from 12-5pm outside Topshop on Upper Regent Crescent. The timetable for the week is as follows:

Monday

Little ones can brighten up meal times with personalised place mats and tea towels using colourful stencils and art supplies.

Tuesday

Children can create their dream breakfast with a variety of fillings for their crepes or waffles. Healthy options include blueberries and bananas with a dash of toffee and chocolate sauce for a tasty treat.

Wednesday

For a twist on the traditional lunch, little chefs can create sandwich sushi rolls or sandwich kebabs with a variety of ingredients.

Thursday

Give kids the chance to design their own pizza topping in an afternoon of fun, followed by a take-home pizza ready to bake in the oven.

Friday

Sweet tooths beware – they have saved the best till last. It’s dessert time and children can make their very own mini banoffee pie or fruit and sponge sundae.

Alongside these activities in the centre, participating restaurants will be running their own cookery classes for kids while parents watch. Places are limited and must be pre-booked.

Wagamama

An educational talk about the fresh products used in the restaurant is followed by a create-your-own ramen or noodle dish class, with children taking home a little Wagamama goody bag. Monday 20 & Tuesday 21, 11am-12pm

Tampopo

Kids will get the chance to make everyone’s favourite little Asian dumplings – delicious gyozas in this fun and interactive child-friendly cooking class. Wednesday 22 & Thursday 23, 11.30am-12.30pm

Coast to Coast

Mini mixologists can learn all about the delicious ingredients that go into making their tasty mocktails and how to shake up their own. Tuesday 21, 3-5pm half hour sessions

“More than 70 per cent of our guests have young families so we’ll be helping them make the most of half term with the opportunity for children to leave the centre having cooked up amazing treats or picked up a new skill they can try again at home,” says Richard Paxton of intu Trafford Centre.

So look no further this half term and put a smile on the face of your own little chefs.

Half-term cooking workshops at intu Trafford Centre run from Monday 20 February – Friday 24 February. Activities are free for all the family and are open to all ages.
