Following the success of Cat Café which opened earlier this year, pet care company Manchester Dog Care is about to open Greater Manchester’s first café for canines.

Built inside a 14,000 square foot warehouse in Altrincham, Central Bark will feature a dog café, grooming centre, overnight boarding and day care complex. Husband and wife Tony and Tania Golden will run the café and the couple will be using their South Carolina roots to bring a touch of the US to Manchester.

Part of the day care centre, the Beach Dog Café, will allow visitors to escape Manchester’s gloomy weather for a few hours and relax with a range of hot food, sandwiches and coffee amongst pastel umbrella and benches.

Kennels and boarding will be provided for dogs to enjoy overnight stays in the central room and the outside space will accommodate up to seventy dogs in its four play areas, divided by white picket fences.

No need to miss out if you’re not a dog owner because Central Bark will be inviting dog-less visitors to visit and pet the pooches in the play area.

“We’re hoping that people can come and get their ‘dog boost’ to help keep them going,” dog-loving duo Tony and Tania said.

The pampered pups are all required to take part in a personality test before they can run free at the dog café. To test their social skills, every dog will go through an evaluation process to determine whether or not they will be well behaved during their stay.

Manchester Dog Care will welcome their usual clients as the first visitors to Central Bark and also have plans to approach local rescue centres in a bid to get guest dogs to visit the centre. Dogs from the rescue centres will wear ‘Adopt me’ t-shirts to encourage visitors to re-home them.

The day care centre is scheduled to open next month with the Beach Dog Café welcoming visitors in January 2017.

Day care for your dog costs from £17.50 whilst an overnight stay at the dog hotel is £21.50.
