FREE Festive Fun For Kids at Great Northern

The Great Northern Warehouse have teamed up with I Love Manchester to help give local children a very special Christmas.

‘Manchester On Ice’ opened recently in Great Northern Square, Deansgate, in Manchester city centre and for two days in December, Great Northern Warehouse will be giving the square over to local charities, youth groups and other organisations who work with children who are maybe not having the best of times.

This means an ice skating session on the new ice rink, unlimited goes on the winter rides, helter skelter, penguin dodgems and ice maze and free hot chocolate courtesy of Home Sweet Home – all free of charge for the entire day!

Great Northern creative director, Mark Ashmore said: “When I was growing up, Christmas was always a time of happy memories and I know from first hand experience how difficult this time of year can be for some local familes and children in the care system.

“There will be less money around this Christmas for many families because of the cuts. The government won’t be paying for Christmas presents, and that’s where the Great Northern is stepping in – to give an amazing free day out to around 600 children. And we’re hoping to make it an annual event.”

I Love Manchester founder, Chris Greenhalgh said: “This is a fantastic initiative which we’re proud to be part of. Christmas is all about kids and community spirit. It can be memorable and magical or it can be lonely and hard. This wonderful gesture by Great Northern will help bring families together for some yuletide fun without having to worry about the pennies.”
